Fall Edit 2015 | 5 Shades of Red

Fall is just around the corner. Personally, I can't wait. I now I will be complaining when the weather gets super chilly, but for now I am super excited for Fall. The cooler weather, the falling leaves, the autumn color. It has been so hot so long, and since it never rains where I live ever, I am praying for more rain this coming fall. California has been in drought for so many years that people say brown is the new green now. =(

Anyway, back to beauty talk. I was browsing around my lipstick collection, and I've drawn into the deep red look lately. Although it is still a bit challenging for me to just go out and pull it off. I love bold lips. but for me it requires more effort to put together and just be confident wearing it. I am also currently drawn to matte formula. Matte wasn't my first choice when it comes to beauty products. Not for foundation nor lips. There was a phase where I was all about nude matte lipstick, and for the longest time I hadn't seen myself going back to the matte phase until now. It's funny how your taste just changes from time to time without any exact reason. So here are the swatches:

from left to right:
Maybelline color sensational matte/ rich ruby/ matte
The brightest shade among all. I just picked it a couple of days ago, and I was instantly surprised by the creaminess of the lipstick. It doesn't feel drying at all, which some Maybelline lipstick tends to do to me. I love how the packaging is a frosted plastic, but I wish the cap shows different color for different shade like Maybelline does for its other lipstick line.

Makeup Forever rouge artist natural/ copper pink
What I have here is a deluxe sample size. This is a more peachy red than true red. It's relatively sheer compared to the other ones, but I like how it's just so easy to apply and the the color looks natural, too.

Revlon super lustrous/black cherry
I love how the color reminds me of black cherry. When I'm in the mood to sport a bold dark lipstick, this is the I go for. The formula is known for its creaminess and smoothness. The color is perfect for fall/winter paired with a pastel turtle-neck sweater.

Nars velvet matte lip pencil/cruella /matte
This is a birthday gift from Sephora. I am impressed with this gift, so fancy and exciting. I've never tried Nars lip products before. The color is true red, and it's really pretty. It also is not drying. I feel like beauty companies, both drugstore and high-end, have figured out how to make moisturizing matte lipstick which was rare way back when.

Lime Crime velvetines/ wicked / matte
I featured this in a lip-swatch video several moths ago. I must say, this is the toughest-to-remove lip product I've ever had. When I first apply it's so pigmented and liquidy, but it will dry fast as matte.

Thank you for reading! What are your favorite shade of lipstick for Fall?
