Beauty Review: Revlon Lipbutter

Hi people! It's the middle of the week. Hope you all are having a good week so far. If not, weekend is just around the corner. Hang in there!

I was just cleaning my makeup area, and I just realized how I really love my lipbutter collection. I know this product has been received a lot of raves all over the internet. Revlon just recently launched new shades to the collection, and I already bought two of them.

berry smootie, creme brule, peach parfait, wild watermelon, juicy papaya

Revlon Lipbutters are by far my favorite lip products ever. They have gazillion of shades which means that they have colors for every single skin tone. They perform more like a lipstick with the pigmentation but act more like a lipbalm with the moisture it provides. In short, if a lipstick and a lipbalm have a baby, it's lipbutter.
Every shade has different finish. Some have glitter and sparkle finish and some have satin finish. But none of them have matte finish, which I personally don't prefer since I have dry lips.

These are my favorites in my collection:

Berry Smoothie

Creme Brule

Peach Parfait

Juicy Papaya

Wild Watermelon

Have you tried one? How do you like it?

LOTD: Happy Belated Mother's Day!

Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone had a good start of the week today.
Yesterday was Mother's day. I never truly celebrated Mother's day with my mom. Where I am from, Mother's day falls on Dec 22 and the celebration just gets mixed with Christmas fiasco. You know how it is. This year, I still don't get to celebrate Mother's day with my mom. She's currently on vacation with my dad in the east coast. I am so excited to meet them this coming Saturday.

Yesterday, my church celebrate Mother's day by having all the mothers come in front of the congregation and we all just give them respect and applauded them. That moment I just felt like being a mother is a hard full-time, and if I get to be half as good as a mother my mom is, I'll be really grateful.

The pastor on Sunday shared a funny yet sadly true statements about mothers he found online. It's in Indonesian, so I tried my best to translate some of them into English.

LOTD: Just A Lil' Bit of Color

Hello everyone! Another weekend is here and will pass in several hours for me.  Time flies super fast these days. I am enjoying the longer sunlight the Spring is giving me. As the weather is getting warmer,  I am more into easy natural makeup look. For the past Saturday and Sunday, I have been using the same products to create what seems to be my go-to look now.

Saturday

Closer look on the eye makeup

Face:
♥ bareMinerals Original Foundation - medium beige
♥ bareMinerals Multi-tasking SPF 20 concealer - summer bisque
♥ benefit erase paste - medium
♥ Rimmel natural bronzer - sunlight

Eyes:
♥ TooFaced Shadow Insurance
♥ Wet n Wild trio - walking on eggshells (the eyelid color on my lids)
♥ Maybelline eyestudio (the peach shade on my crease - swatches here)
♥ Kat Von D Tattoo Liner - trooper
♥ CoverGirl lash blast volume mascara* (white tube - the olympic edition, same formula with the original, different tube)

 Sunday

Ignore the bareMinerals products there, I forgot to take them out when I took the 'Sunday' products =p

Face:
♥ Urban Decay Naked Foundation - shade 4.5
♥ Laura Geller the real deal serious coverage concealer - medium
♥ Laura Geller Balance-N-Brigthen baked powder foundation (not pictured)
♥ Rimmel natural bronzer - sunlight
♥ NYX blush - rose garden

Eyes:
♥ TooFaced Eyeshadow insurance
♥ Wet n Wild trio - walking on eggshells
So, this might sound weird, but I use the pinkish color all over my lids just like I did on Saturday, and using the same brush I used on the previous day, I just blended the color with whatever left on the brush.
♥ NYX slide on, glide on, stay on & definitely a turn on waterproof, extreme shine eyeliner - jetblack
it says on the packaging: "This eye liner is so good, the name had to be this long!" I have to agree. It is affordable and such a good liner. I use this to tighline my eyes.
♥ Kat Von D tattoo eyeliner - trooper
♥ CoverGirl lash blast volume mascara*

*I really want to give a shoutout to CoverGirl Lash blast volume mascara. I know it is just a good ol' product which has been many people's favorites. I have never tried it before until now. It doesn't smudge on me AT ALL! Really! I wore it through out the day on Saturday and Sunday, and I didn't see it smudging even a tiny bit. Bravo CoverGirl!

Hope you enjoy this post. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Beauty Review: Lancome Hypnose Mascara

I recently came across this mascara when I was going over my sample piles. I don't even remember when I got it. It must've came with my online order from Sephora a while back. I know that Michelle Phan said that she loves this mascara. So as a fellow asian girl with typical asian lashes, I was intrigued to try this out. To be honest, I have found mascara that is just perfect for my lashes from the drugstore.
Closer look on the brush and wet formula

I tried this out this morning when I was getting ready with my makeup and all. One thing that I noticed instantly as soon as I applied the mascara was that it was wet. I really don't like wet mascara since my lashes are naturally wimpy. They can't afford to lift up such a weight as wet formula. I applied two coats on my left eyes, and the product took longer to dry. I looked closely and I noticed how my lashes faced downward even after I curled them as if they were lifting something heavy, which I guess they were.

Managed to sneak in an extra minute to do a comparison, I applied one of my mascaras that work well for my lashes, Tarte Amazonian clay mascara, on my other eye. The result was so much different. My lashes got thicker without the appearance of being heavy. They curled upward and stayed that way after 2-3 coats.

Wetness aside, this mascara does a good job in giving thicker-looking lashes, but it clumps and flakes. The Tarte one also clumps, but it does so only on the brush. I can easily brush the clumps away when I apply it on my lashes. My friend even pointed that out to me when we were standing close to each other. When someone comes up to you and says that there's a goop of mascara at the end of your lashes, it only mean one thing. Toss the product away!

In conclusion, this mascara gives thickness, but not volume. The thickness comes from the wet formulation, and might not suitable if your lashes are the same time as mine are. If you have naturally long and upwardly curled lashes, you might enjoy this.

Quick recommendation for the best mascara I have ever tried: Almay get up & grow. I love this product, and my friends even thought I was wearing falsies when I used this.

Hope you find this post helpful.

My Eatinerary: San Francisco - Saturday, April 27, 2013

I went to the city on Saturday to celebrate my friend's birthday. We didn't really have anything particular planned for the birthday girl, but we did spend the whole afternoon and night with her. It turned out to be a great night excluding the typical windy and foggy San Franciscan weather.

We carpooled with our friends because Ocep was really tired driving to SF almost every week now. We went at around 3 o'clock and met the rest of our group at park. Except for the gruesome wind that just blew my hair in complete disaster, I was really amazed to see the city in 360. Some of us couldn't really handle the cold and decided to head back down first. I took my time and just enjoyed the view from up there.

After the windy fest, we decided to grab a what-turned-out-be-a-not-so-quick-bite at  a little place called Kingdom of Dumpling. When I said little, it was literally a small place. There were 11 of us, and we basically filled the whole room. It was a really tiny house converted to a place to eat I guess. The owner was really energetic and chatty. He basically made all of our orders without even asking.

Shanghai Soup Dumplings
I really liked their pork dumplings with corn, but I forgot to take pictures. It was a great new food experience. We usually only go to King of Thai, which is just a few steps away from the Kingdom of Dumpling. After full with savory of dimsum goodness, we walked a few feet to our favorite ice cream place, Marco Polo. It self-proclaims as Italian ice cream place, but really is an asian ice cream place with unique ice cream flavors. They sell durian ice cream which is my favorite. Many of you might find durian gross. It's even called stinky fruit sometimes. I can never understand why because I've always liked the smell of Durian, and it's really one of the best-tasting fruits out there.

From Marco Polo, we continued our little adventure to another comfort place, Japantown. It was windy and cold, so we wanted to go somewhere indoor and couldn't think of anything else other than Japantown. I really need recommendation of good hangout place in San Francisco! We got to Japantown, and we literally just wandered around the almost-closed mall. It was around 10 pm already. We usually go to Sophie's Crepes for dessert, but considering we were just from Marco Polo, I refused the temptation of my favorite Japanese Green Tea crepe.

It seemed like we were really in our happy place, we decided to continue on the fun to another hangout place in San Mateo, Dessert Republic. None of us had ever been there before. I was in San Mateo a couple of weeks ago and saw this place crowded and made a note to visit it someday. And this was someday. I surprisingly felt hungry again. I don't normally eat after 8 pm, but somehow all the laughter brought the energy out of me. My boyfriend and I ordered a calamary garlic noodle. It was really yummy.

The party had to end sometime, and for us it was around 11.30-ish. Some say this is what's called "old people's party", but I say this is responsible people's party. lol.

Thanks for the awesome night out!

LOTD: A Warm Spring Sunday

Hello everyone! Another Sunday is here, and I am delighted! Tax season is finally over, at least for me. And I finally have a chance to breathe again. I am super pumped planning for the rest of the year. Super exciting events are waiting, and I'll be sure to share them with you guys.

Another LOTD, super simple and sweet. Everytime I want  don't know what look I want to do, I tend to play with safe with warm color tone just like in these pictures.

I love love the rose gold color of L'Oreal infallible eyeshadow in amber rush. It's really not like any other eyeshadow I've ever tried. It's like loose powder shadow pressed into creamy and pigmented color. A little bit goes a long way with this product. I really love how it goes with the feeling I have today. Warm and sparkling. haha..

Face:
❤ Revlon Whipped Cream Foundation - warm beige
❤ Sheer cover concealer - medium
❤ Urban Decay All Nighter - once to set my foundation and concealer and once after I finish applying everything
It helps improving the lasting power of my makeup.
❤Rimmel bronzer
❤TooFaced chocolate soleil for countouring
❤Benefit cha cha tint
❤Milani baked blush - Rose d'oro
I just got this yesterday, and it's really really pretty!! I used it on top of the benefit chacha tint using the tint as the base for my blush
❤Hello Kitty shimmering powder has highlight

Eyes:
❤theBalm 'Nude tude palette - stubborn (inner corner highlight), sultry (contour socket of my eyes)
❤L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadow - amber rush
❤MAC - satin taupe (lower waterline)
❤Smashbox gel eyeliner
❤Tarte amazonian clay mascara (love this!)

Lips:
❤Revlon lipbutter - peach parfait

For some reason, I was craving something I've never tried before. Haha, it sounds weird, doesn't it? Back in Indo, we have people walk around our block selling food in their cart. They typically sell nasi goreng (fried rice) and mie goreng (fried noodle). And because they tap on their wooden food carts with a wooden block, every time they pass by, we hear the sound "tek tek". And that's why the food sold is called "nasi goreng tek tek" and and "mie tek tek".
I never really tried the soup version of mie tek tek, so somehow I was introduced to the idea of the food and craved for it for a couple of days. I finally had it for lunch at an Indonesian restaurant near where we live. I didn't like it. It was too salty. But I still think the original mie tek tek is much better. Sometimes, cheap food lowers your expectation hence better taste. =P

I'm slipping in a quick OOTD here.
Top and pants are both from Loft. Really love the top. The patter is just too cute for me to pass on. It's little cherry blossom flowers and I think it really goes well with the beet pants.
The sunglasses are from Forever 21. I'm wearing my fit flop sandals here, kicking off my heels for the weekend =).

Pinkberry time! I shared with my boyfriend and had 2 flavors in one cup - hazelnut chocolate, my fave, and salted caramel, his fave. When it comes to froyo, we're not really taking advantage the "healthy benefits" and always go with the chocolaty goodness.

LOTD: Bright Watermelon Sunday

This is supposed to be up last Sunday but....
anyway, it was another low-key Sunday for me. I slept in and went out to buy lunch. For some reason, I felt the need to get dolled up before I went out. It's like my passion has been locked in a cage for days and Sunday is like my freedom. The only scarce thing for me lately is time. I don't really put on makeup anymore for the last two months. Every morning I wake up and all I think was to get to work faster. I feel really rushed all the time, but somehow I manage to still have a good mood. Thank God for that!

This post features some old and some new favorites. I finally purchased a Coastal Scent 88 palette a while ago, but I haven't even touched it in the slightest. I got it months ago back in 2012! It seems like forever ago. (Time, please don't fly away so fast...*a girl could only wish*)

The warm Spring weather makes me want to alternate from smokey bronze look that I really fond of for my everyday look. I've noticed plum and pink stand out as the colors of the season. Here, I don't really do much for my makeup but thought just want to share with you anyway =)

I literally squatted my way down taking pictures for this blog post. I wanted to take advantage of the bright sunny day. I really really love Spring of all seasons. It gives me such comfortable feeling of warmth and joy without being too overly in-your-face like Summer
Coastal Scent 88 palette
Rimmel Lasting Finish 25-hour foundation in Nude
Laura Geller The Real Deal concealer in medium
Revlon Lip Butter in Watermelon
Rimmel Fix & Perfect Primer
Benefit Erase paste in medium
NYX brown eyeliner pencil

My skin is clearing up thanks to new products I've been using. I'll update on my skin routine soon.

I picked up this new gorgeous Revlon Lip butter at Target in watermelon. I love the pop of color it gives!
